Mountain & Rural Shed Delivery in Colorado | Park, Summit, Lake, Grand, Gilpin & Chaffee — The Shed Yard, Colorado

Buying a fully assembled shed is easy. Getting it up a switchback county road at 9,500 feet is where most people start to worry. If your property sits in Park, Summit, Lake, Grand, Gilpin, or Chaffee County, relax — mountain and rural delivery is what our crews do every week. With a little site prep, a purpose-built trailer, and drivers who know these passes, we can set your building exactly where you want it.

Mountain & Rural Shed Delivery Across Colorado's High Country

We regularly deliver sheds, hi-wall barns, loafing sheds, chicken coops, and garages to high-country and rural properties, including:

    • Park County — Fairplay, Alma, Como, Hartsel, Jefferson, Bailey, Guffey and the South Park ranch properties
    • Summit County — Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon, Blue River and Heeney
    • Lake County — Leadville, Twin Lakes and the Arkansas headwaters properties
    • Grand County — Granby, Fraser, Winter Park, Tabernash, Kremmling, Grand Lake and Hot Sulphur Springs
    • Gilpin County — Black Hawk, Central City, Rollinsville and the Golden Gate Canyon acreage
    • Chaffee County — Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs, Nathrop and Johnson Village

Long gravel driveways, forest-service access roads, steep grades, and 8,000–10,500-foot elevations are normal for us. Every building we deliver into these counties is also built for the snow loads and wind that come with them.

Preparing a Mountain or Rural Site

    Clearance on Narrow County Roads

Before delivery day, walk your access route. On a generally straight path, we need a route about 1 foot wider than the building and roughly 16 feet of vertical clearance. A 10x12 shed, for example, needs about 11 feet of horizontal clearance and 16 feet overhead.

In canyon and forested areas like Golden Gate Canyon, Bailey, Rollinsville, or the Fraser Valley, low pine branches and overhead power lines are the usual culprits. Trimming branches ahead of time saves the day. Also check cattle guards, culverts, gate widths, and switchback turn radii on ranch and mining-claim roads in South Park, Leadville, and the Arkansas Valley.

No access? No problem — we can build the structure onsite instead (more on that below).

A Level Pad That Survives Freeze-Thaw

We can set a building on bare dirt, but at elevation we strongly recommend a compacted gravel pad. High-country freeze-thaw cycles, spring runoff, and heavy snowmelt in Summit, Grand, and Lake counties will move an unprepared site. A 6-inch bed of 3/4-inch road base extending one foot past the building on every side keeps your floor dry and your doors square.

See our shed site preparation guide and this pad prep video. However you prep, the site must be level — we can level it on delivery day for an added charge.

    Snow, Mud & Seasonal Timing

Mountain delivery windows depend on weather. Late spring mud season and mid-winter storms on Hoosier, Kenosha, Berthoud, and Monarch passes can shift a date by a day or two. In-stock buildings typically deliver in about 7 days, custom builds in about 4 to 6 weeks fully assembled (5 to 8 weeks for on-site builds), and we always call ahead to confirm road conditions with you.

Delivery Day: How We Get It In There

    Backing In

Your building arrives fully assembled on a trailer behind our truck. We back as close to the pad as your property allows — we've earned a lot of compliments on our reverse-driving skills on narrow mountain drives.

    Tight Corners and Steep Grades

Our trailer was purpose-built for tight access. Extendable sideways wheels underneath let us shift the trailer left and right, which is exactly what's needed on hairpin driveways in Black Hawk, Breckenridge, or Twin Lakes. Watch the sideways wheels in action.

    Remote-Control Placement

Once the truck has gone as far as it can, the remote-control trailer takes over. Your driver walks the building to the end of the bed, uses the sideways wheels to line it up, tips the bed to set it gently on the pad, and backs the trailer out from underneath — inches of accuracy, no heavy equipment required.

    Walk-Around and Handoff

We confirm placement, check that doors open and close cleanly, and inspect for any damage. A couple of signatures later, the building is yours.

Onsite Assembly for the Toughest Properties

Some properties simply can't take a trailer — steep mining-claim roads above Central City, tight cabin lots in Grand Lake, or hillside builds outside Salida. For an additional fee, we assemble your structure onsite.

    Drop-Off

Our truck drops the floor, walls, and roof components at the nearest accessible point and the crew hand-carries them to your prepared pad.

    Build

The crew lays the floor, stands and fastens the walls, raises the roof beams, sheathes and shingles the roof, then finishes trim and touch-up paint. See a crew building onsite.
