Can I keep chickens in a shed?

    The short answer

You can, but a purpose-built coop works better. Chickens need nesting boxes, roost bars, ventilation, and predator-proofing, which a storage shed does not have. Plan about 3 to 4 square feet of coop floor per standard hen. Our coops arrive fully assembled with those features built in — see our chicken coops.

Colorado winters make ventilation as important as square footage. Flock sizing is covered in how much coop space do chickens need.
