Can I live in a shed in Colorado?
The short answer
Not in a storage shed. Sleeping or living in a building makes it a dwelling, which must meet residential building code, energy code, and local zoning, and a standard shed is not built or permitted for that. If you want a small home, a code-compliant home shell is the path designed for it. See the options on our code-compliant home shells page.
A home shell is built to residential code and permitted as a dwelling; you or your contractor finish the interior systems. Local zoning still decides where a dwelling or ADU can go on your lot.
